Beth Ann Bruce – Mama B
March, 7th 1956 – August 7th, 2018
Beth Ann Bruce, the galaxy’s greatest mom, the world’s best sister, the universe’s most caring aunt, everyone’s funniest friend, and the most competent Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Nurse Practitioner died Tuesday, August 7th.
She was the best person in so many ways and she gave us everything she had. She loved harder, she cared more, she laughed louder, and she made the flakiest pie crust that has ever graced a mouth. No…she really did. Luckily she has taught a few people, including her son and most recently Haley, how to make it. (No pressure)
There must have been some magic in the air when her Father Alva Marcy and mother Kathryn Eutemark mixed her up and brought her into this world for us to all be so lucky. Beth lost her father way too young, her mother too early, and there is no doubt she is off shopping with her sister Joan Knight right now. Buy all the things, girls…buy ’em all!
She is survived by her Brothers Alan, David and Rick Marcy, as well as her sisters Barbara Paglia and Ann Mapstone.
Her only son Christopher Bruce and his wife Ashley will carry her with them every second of every day as they build their family and life together.
She loved tulips, shopping, lipstick, sugar cookies, baking, making people smile, laughing out loud, Hallmark Movies, her newfound hobby of kayaking, and any excuse to receive and (especially) give gifts. But most importantly, she LOVED her son and her family deeper than many knew possible.
For the last 35+ years she graced the halls of Crouse Hospital working in the NICU and was the glue for the Neonatal Associates of Central New York, managing the Nurse Practitioners and keeping Steve Gross and the rest of the doctors in line.
She was like a mom to so many and a friend to even more. To say she will be missed is the understatement of the century. Her son Christopher and her entire family would love for all who knew and loved her to join them in a celebration of her life. Let’s have the party we know she would want to have and absolutely deserves. To some, the Pompey Rod and Gun Club may seem like an odd choice for this celebration, but Beth surprised a lot of people all the time. She not only picked up Trap Shooting after her son left for college at the University of Delaware, where he went off to become a doctor but came home a stuffed animal, but she became the club captain and ran things for many years. It was a place that brought her great joy and a group of people that she cared for and loved very much. Come with stories, share pictures and be ready to party.
